Tasked to stand out in the saturated spirit space, French whisky brand Bastille 1789 tapped into New York – based creative content agency PLUS to give them an edge. Plus responded by creating a campaign appropriately titled A Strange Adventure featuring Hollywood actor Holt McCallany who plays a detective on the search for a mysterious new whisky from France. “France is known best for their wine, not whisky,” says Judy Wellfare, Executive Creative Director at Plus. “The notion of a ‘French Whisky’ is arguably ‘strange’ for American whisky drinkers. Our goal was to spark curiosity with something unique and unexpected. We found inspiration in French New Wave Cinema – creating a wry, sexy and intriguing story for the brand.”
